Earlier in October, we celebrated Virtuos’ 20th anniversary by reflecting on 20 numbers that marked our journey. “Growth” remained our defining theme in 2024. Despite challenges in the games industry, we focused on opportunities, making it a year of innovation and progress. Here are five highlights that shaped our year:

We expanded our service lines and entered a new market

With the addition of Beyond-FX in March, we’re excited to expand our offerings to include real-time VFX, enhancing the range of services available to all our global partners.

Deep dive: Beyond-FX designed a free 10 episode course for aspiring VFX artists earlier this September, where they could learn how to create an explosion effect in Unreal Engine.

Welcoming  Third Kind Games to Virtuos has also allowed us to establish our presence in the UK. With an experienced team of over 70 members, the studio has contributed AAA co-development expertise to titles including Fable and Hearthstone.  They are also huge on giving back to the community, having recently  raised £11,000 in the third annual SpecialEffect Charity Pub Quiz to support gaming accessibility.

We shared our expertise and insights with the broader game industry

At Virtuos, we believe the best games are created when knowledge is shared. Building on our expertise, we collaborated with data partners such as Newzoo, IDG Consulting, and Strategic Game Consulting to share insights.

We also participated in over 10 industry talks globally, showcasing technical expertise in areas such as improving UI performance with Unreal Engine materials, best practices with State Tree, and our own approach to virtualized geometry: Hi-Res Vision. Through this, we hope to help game developers succeed in the ever-evolving gaming landscape.

We contributed to well-loved titles

Bringing games to life is what drives our passion. This year, we’re proud to have contributed to beloved titles such as Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Astro Bot (which won 2024 Game of the Year), and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

We strengthened our commitment to diversity

We believe in the vital role of women in video game development and the value that diversity brings to our workplace and culture. This year, we deepened our commitment by becoming a Silver Corporate Ambassador of Women in Games while continuing as a Global Fund Donor to Women in Animation.

We are certified as a Great Place to Work ® in all countries we operate in again

We’re thankful for the continued recognition of our employees in eight countries: China, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, France, Ireland, the USA, and Canada. This affirms our commitment to maintaining an employee-centric workplace, a focus we will continue to uphold.

In 2025, we strive to continue upholding Virtuos’ core values of excellence, positivity, and trust, while making games better, together!
