Singapore – March 2021 – Virtuos is pleased to announce its sponsorship for the ArtCenter Game Jam, which is set to begin from 26th March to 28th March.

The ArtCenter Game Jam is organized by ArtCenter College of Design, with the aim of challenging participants to form up in teams and to create a game from concept to a playable build within 48 hours. While traditionally held at the campus, the event will take place virtually on a dedicated Discord channel this year, available for anyone to join.

As the Director of the Game Design Program at ArtCenter College of Design, Virtuos Key Account Manager Christophe Gomez will be hosting the Game Jam’s opening address and closing ceremony, as well as the guest panel during the three-day event.

“We’re thrilled to present the ArtCenter Game Jam for anyone interested in learning more about this very exciting and growing field,” said Christophe Gomez. “Today’s game designers have the unprecedented opportunity to create and deliver unique interactive experiences to a wide audience, from hardcore gamers to very casual players.”

“In addition to just being a ton of fun, Game Jams have become a great source of fresh ideas and a way for aspiring and current developers to create connections with one another,” said Jake Digennaro, General Manager of Virtuos North America. “The beauty of them is there are no bad ideas, so everyone has the opportunity to reach outside their comfort zone in a welcoming environment to try some whacky, creative stuff.”

Virtuos’ sponsorship of the ArtCenter Game Jam represents another step in our overall objective of making games better together. By helping to make this event possible, we hope to inspire the next generation of creators to embark on a career in game development and encourage even more creativity within the games industry.

About Game Design at ArtCenter

Game Design is housed within ArtCenter’s Entertainment Design program, which offers a Bachelor of Science degree. The goal of the program is to produce game designers who will lead in a multidisciplinary setting and bring inventive experiences to life through storytelling, prototyping and problem solving. Entertainment Design students in the Game Design track focus on acquiring the technical skills necessary for competency in game design; gaining fluency in the phases of the production process; learning how to navigate between artistic expression, programming and design languages; and developing the ability to identify, understand and solve a client’s complex design problems. A faculty of professionals teach students how to identify and understand various business models (e.g. premium, free-to-play, season passes) and how monetization decisions affect a game’s design.
