On 18 October, GamesIndustry.biz revealed the winners of the Best Places to Work Canada 2022. We are proud to share that Virtuos Canada, consisting of our Montreal and Vancouver teams, has been named one of the winners! In addition to Virtuos Canada being among the highest-scoring small company (10-50 employees) recipients of the awards, we are a special award winner of the environment category.
“We would like to express our thanks to GamesIndustry.biz for recognizing our efforts, as this is a very meaningful and extremely important award for us to receive,” said David Cheung, General Manager at Virtuos Montreal.
“As a leading global company, we are putting in significant effort to reducing our energy consumption and carbon footprint, with a goal to achieve carbon neutrality and significant adoption of renewable energy sources in the future.”
“We will continue to provide safe and comfortable working conditions for our staff where they feel part of a bigger purpose, understand the importance of restoration activities, and make conscious choices that reduce our individual impact on the environment,” David stressed.
The GamesIndustry.biz Best Places To Work Awards is about making the games industry a better place to work, and winners are determined by an in-depth survey of participating companies’ employees. Topics covered in the survey include working environment, work/life balance, management, and diversity.
Throughout the years, Virtuos has made conscious and continuous efforts to reduce our impact on the environment through a variety of conservation and green living initiatives. For example, we kickstarted our Green IT Classroom program in 2019, whereby our studios worldwide donate refurbished laptops and IT equipment to underprivileged students and support them in gaining digital literacy. Our studios also regularly organize team outings to help clean public parks, beaches, and neighborhoods in their communities.

“I like working at Virtuos because I get to work on lots of really cool games! I’m also surrounded by an incredibly friendly and supportive team, which has just made the start of my journey with Virtuos such an unforgettable experience,” shared George Ng, Account Manager at Virtuos Vancouver.
“I love the people here. My colleagues inspire me and teach me many new things; those from different cultures, backgrounds, and experiences always broadened my mind. Besides that, I love the friendly atmosphere at Virtuos. Many of us share similar interests and play games together even outside of work hours. It makes me feel like I’m part of a big family,” said Yuanli Lea Gong, Concept Artist at Virtuos Montreal.
“It’s a very close-knit culture; it feels like I’m hanging out with a group of friends every day at the office. On top of that, I get to work on a variety of projects,” said Daniel Fernandez, Concept Artist at Virtuos Montreal.
A big thank-you to all of our industry peers and partners for supporting our efforts in various ways over the years. We will continue to commit ourselves to creating an excellent environment for our employees to thrive in and strive to live up to this recognition.
